I love a little romance as much as the next person, but I’m not a fan of the absurd amount of trash our designated day to celebrate loovvvvve produces. And I know I’m not the only one!
So, if you want to win the heart of a lovely eco-friendly person this February, here’s a list of low waste Valentine’s Day ideas:
- Candy from bulk barn (bought and presented in a pretty, reusable container)
- If you’re going the pretty underwear route, some locally-made, high-quality, long-lasting lingerie from a brand (like Fortnight here in Toronto) is a great way to avoid wasteful fast fashion.
- A lovely bar of soap or shampoo in their favourite scent that doesn’t come wrapped in plastic is always a treat. If you want to wrap it, try this!
- Bring home takeout in your own containers (or better yet, cook their favourite meal yourself)!
- Gift experiences rather than things (buy show tickets, give a massage).
- Write a love letter on seed paper (with your fountain pen for extra low-waste points!).
- Bake cookies or their favourite sweet treat.
- Pamper them (or yourself!) with an easy DIY face mask, lip scrub and body scrub.
- Enjoy some eco-friendly wine.
- Making out is totally zero waste! Shower them with some eco-friendly affection.
